- The 3-Metre Perimeter Rule: Do not let suspicious individuals enter your immediate personal space. If someone approaches you to ask for the time, directions, or money, instinctively step back, place your hands in a passive-defensive posture (open palms, up near your chest), and create a stand-off distance.
